We are showing the wonderful paintings and chalk pastel pictures of Cornelia FitzRoy at our pop-up at Houghton Hall. These memorable studies evoke many journeys along the lanes of Norfolk and capture the wonderful colourful landscapes that await those of us who momentarily find ourselves ‘lost’ among these beautiful lanes and byways.
Cornelia is a landscape painter based in East Anglia having trained at Byam Shaw and Chelsea school of art. Her work is a direct response to the changing light, colours, weather, and seasons – all created outside “au plein air”.
Cornelia works with a palate of two reds, two blues and two yellows. Mixed with Quinacridone Magenta and Alizarine means she mIxes colours of the countryside with concentrated attention. Her chalk pastel paintings achieve the same effect.
Cornelia is a member of Group Eight, a collective of 8 Norfolk painters.
