Shells with their accidental beauty, subtle colours, variety in shape and texture appealed to Carolyn Brookes Davies. Their endless ornamental possibilities have inspired her recent shell work we are showing during our pop up at Houghton Hall (closing September 30th)
Carolyn makes ornamental shell work. A carefully selected assortment of shells are assembled to create shell encrusted caskets, mirror frames, bowls, candle sticks and furniture. With a background in sculpture and a love of natural form, shells with their accidental beauty, subtle colours, textures and endless ornamental possibilities appeal to Carolyn. Having graduated from The Royal College of Art in 1982 and, after a career in London as a fashion designer, Carolyn moved to the North Norfolk coast in 2003.
